Travel Guidelines
Hotel: Please secure a smoke-free room, with a king bed, with guaranteed late arrival the evening before the presentation.
Transportation: The booking organization will arrange and be responsible for (2) two non-stop, roundtrip and coach class airline reservations. Ms. Burton travels from Baltimore Washington International (BWI) Airport.
Please arrange for someone in your organization to provide ground transportation or send sedan car service.
AV Requirements
I need a lavaliere microphone and a wireless handheld for audience participation.
Handouts
If handouts for participants are required, the original copy will be emailed to the client for them to photocopy and distribute to participants.
Booksigning
A booksigning after the event is a good way for me to connect further with the audience. If a booksigning is appropriate to your event, please provide a six foot skirted table near the entrance of the room. Books may be shipped directly to the client. If there are books remaining, we will arrange for them to be shipped back.
I will need the assistance of two or three people during the booksigning directly after I speak so that I can sign books and give my full attention to the attendees.
Media
I have quite a bit of media experience and will be glad to do radio, television and print interviews to help you promote the event. Please call the Inspire, Inc. office to arrange the details (410-561-6041 ext. 84).

What is a teleclass?
A teleclass is a seminar taught by phone in which participants call into a conference line from anywhere in the world to be connected to the instructor and fellow students. It is an extremely effective format for learning, providing you the opportunity to take classes on topics of interest to you from the comfort of your home, office or anywhere you choose.

How does it work?
Once you register, you will receive instructions about where to call in for the teleclass. It is a regular long-distance call. Your teleclass may also have an online blog in which you can share ideas, post messages and connect with your classmates between sessions.
Is there homework?
Yes. From session to session, you will be challenged with assignments and action steps to move you closer to your goals. We are careful not to overwhelm you with work between classes, but there are substantive, relevant groundwork to help you build a foundation for achieving your vision.
Are the sessions recorded?
Unless there is a technical difficulty, each session is recorded and made available for participants for two weeks following the session.
Are there systems in place to help me retain information?
Absolutely. Each week, you will also receive a recap of the session, include key points made during the session, recommended resources and books, instructions for listening to recording of the session and a preview of the next week’s topic.
Are there prerequisites?
Occasionally, we will recommend a specific prerequisite as a foundation for a higher level class. Some of these teleclasses are available on CD and you may listen at your leisure prior to the start of the class for which you are registering.
Are there any rules I should be aware of?
Yes. Please call into the class from a land line rather than a wireless phone when at all possible. Call from a quiet area. Press the mute button on your phone to block out extraneous noise. Avoid multi-tasking while in class (i.e., checking email, washing dishes, driving). Treat your time in the teleclass just as you would if you were having class in person! This will greatly enhance your learning experience as well as your ability to participate and contribute to the class.
What are my options for paying for the session?
The most efficient way to pay for your session is via our secure online store using a credit or debit card. You may also make your payment by phone via debit or credit card by calling (410) 561-6041, ext. 84.
What is coaching?
Coaching is a powerful conversation and support system that empowers you to experience your potential more quickly, easily and joyfully. Coaching is an ongoing tool that empowers you to move from where you are now to where you want to be – in your finances, work, business, health, relationships and spiritual life. Through a specially-directed, purpose-driven conversation, coaching empowers you to uncover answers, make important decisions, clarify your purpose and vision, strategize and plan, and make the shifts you need to make to succeed at higher levels than ever before.
How and when do we meet?
We will meet by telephone three times per month for approximately 50 minutes.
How do I schedule an introductory session at a special $125 rate?
When you're ready to schedule the session, here's what to do:
- Go to www.valorieburton.com/executive.html to process your payment for the session online via credit or debit card. If you prefer to do it by phone, you can call Leone Murray directly to process it at (410) 561-6041, ext. 84.
- Leone Murray also schedules the coaching sessions. Once your request is processed, she will be in touch with you to schedule a day and time that works well for both of us.
- Consider the agenda you’d like to set for our initial coaching session. I've attached a coaching call agenda so that you can identify what you'd like to discuss during our call. Please return the agenda before our session.
- Call in for your session! The instructions and toll-free number are on your agenda.
How do I schedule ongoing coaching sessions?
After your introductory session, if you determine that coaching is right for you, you will receive a welcome e-package of information that details how our ongoing sessions will work. You will be scheduled for three, 50-minute sessions per month – generally on the same day and time for three weeks of the month. Your sessions will be scheduled one to two weeks prior to the start of the month, so that you can have them reserved on your calendar.
How much are ongoing, monthly sessions?
Ongoing sessions, in which you have a reserved and consistent time slot on my calendar three times per month are $595 per month.
Is it possible to schedule single sessions occasionally rather than ongoing sessions?
Yes. Single “a la carte” sessions are possible. Purchase these sessions in our online store and our administrative manager at (410) 561-6041, ext. 84 will contact you within 24 business hours to schedule your single session.
What kinds of things do we discuss in a coaching session?
We can discuss anything that is important to you during your sessions. Although many clients have a specific area that they want to address during coaching, it is quite normal to address multiple areas. None of us lives in a vacuum. Every area of your life is interconnected. Therefore, I encourage you to actively enhance all aspects of who you are. Extraordinary success is not about professional or financial success, in and of itself, but your total success. This includes the quality of your relationships, physical health, spiritual life and even the environment in which you choose to live and work. I am here to support you as you seek fulfillment in each of these areas.
What are the primary benefits of coaching?
The primary benefit of coaching is being able to get clarity and make purposeful, strategic decisions, break through obstacles, and experience your potential more easily than you would without coaching. Coaching will help you:

What is Valorie Burton’s coaching philosophy?
Every choice you and I make – if it is to lead us to fulfill our potential – must have a purpose. My purpose in life is inspiring people to live more fulfilling lives. As your coach, I believe our paths have crossed for a purpose and I take that purpose very seriously. My approach is not to advise you and tell you what you I think you should do, but rather to challenge, support, stretch and encourage you to be more of who you were created to be so that you can reach higher levels of success in your personal and professional life. You were created for a purpose – a purpose that uses your gifts, talents, passion and experiences – and part of my job as your coach is helping you live your purpose daily.
My faith has transformed my life and is an integral part of who I am. So it naturally forms the foundation of my approach to coaching – and it is often a shared value that empowers a deeper connection with my clients. I believe the answers you need are within you. My job is to ask the right questions to help you discover your answers so you can get unstuck and walk confidently into your vision for your life.
Is there a toll-free number for clients?
Coaching clients within the United States, Canada and the Caribbean may call our toll-free client number. Clients outside of these countries may request an adjustment to their coaching rate to account for international long-distance charges.
What is the difference between coaching and other “helping professions”?
Coaching focuses on where you are presently and where you are headed, with a goal of helping you gain clarity about your vision, eliminate obstacles to your success, accelerate the pace of personal growth and achieve results that empower you to live your best life – professionally and personally. We can focus on any area of your life: Relationships, Finances, Spiritual Life, Work and Business, or Physical Health and Environments. While coaching is forward-focused, counseling tends to deal more with past issues in which you may find yourself stuck and struggling. We may occasionally discuss something that has occurred in the past, for the purpose of clarifying the present, but your coaching will not focus on resolving the past. A simple rule of thumb to know whether you should be coaching or counseling: If your past is an issue, counseling is your best option. If your past is simply a fact (regardless of whether the circumstances were difficult or negative), you are probably ready for coaching. If it appears that there is an issue for which you may need counseling, I will suggest it. With the support of a counselor or therapist, some individuals choose to engage in coaching and counseling simultaneously, but with a focus on different areas of life for each service.
A coach focuses on helping you walk your unique path to success. As the client, you are responsible for the results you receive as a result of coaching. I help you discover how to become more of who you need to be to achieve those results and identify what you may need to do differently. A consultant takes responsibility for a specific project, acting as a specialist*, providing specific deliverables and knowledge. I believe in your ability to fully experience your potential and will provide a safe, consistent space for you to develop your potential.
* If my professional experience (in the areas of marketing, public relations, entrepreneurship and publishing) is of benefit to you personally and professionally, I will gladly share what I know.
As a coach, I focus on the development of people in general, and the development of your unique path in particular. A mentor guides you towards a specific path of development. I am more interested in helping you onto to the unique and divinely-ordained path that is meant for you – which may be quite different than the path I have taken, even though the purpose of our paths may be very similar. My job as your coach is not to tell you what to do, but rather to help you uncover the answers that lie within you. Consider me a catalyst for your success.
What training is required for coaches and what training does Valorie Burton have?
Presently, no specific training is legally required in order for someone to refer to themselves as a “coach.” Those who are serious about their work as a professional coach have many educational programs from which to receive training from a variety of organizations. I am a graduate of Coach University (Coach U), the pioneer coach training institution. I have more than 200 hours of training and over 1,000 hours directly coaching clients. In addition, I engaged in 20 hours of workshop-based training taught by the late Thomas Leonard, founder of the coaching profession.
Is Valorie Burton certified as a coach? If so, by whom?
I am a professional certified coach (PCC), credentialed by the International Coach Federation (ICF). The minimum qualifications for the PCC designation include 125 hours of professional coach training, 750 hours directly coaching clients, satisfactory completion of oral and written exams, mentoring by an experienced, credentialed coach and references from existing clients and credentialed coaches. The ICF accredits coach training programs, offers a rigorous credentialing process and serves coaches in 80 countries.
My budget cannot accommodate Valorie’s individual coaching rates at this time. What other options should I consider?
In addition to individual coaching, I offer group coaching and teleclasses, which provide a rich learning opportunity and the chance to connect with like-minded individuals. You should also consider my THRiVE! Today personal coaching series, a monthly audio program that coaches you to success in all of the key areas of your life.
How do I pay for my sessions?
We accept debit and credit cards as payment for coaching sessions, including Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express. You may pay online via this website or via phone by calling our office at (410) 561-6041, ext. 84. For efficiency purposes, debit and credit cards are the only form of payment we accept.
I am interested in becoming a coach. Do you have any advice?
If you are interested in becoming a coach, I recommend you begin by investing in professional coach training. Coaching is a professional discipline, much like financial planning, counseling or public relations. Do not attempt to coach professionally because you feel like you’ve “been coaching all of your life.” You may have the natural gift to coach, but develop that gift by learning coaching as a profession.
