This Week's Topic: Ready to Get Unstuck? 4 Questions to Move You Forward
Dear Friend, As a coach, I have often
found that many people seek answers from others when the best answers
lie within themselves. The problem is that we often don’t ask ourselves
the right questions – the questions that will lead us to the answers we
are looking for. This week, I would like to share four simple, powerful
questions that can help you get unstuck when you are facing a challenge
or dilemma. 1. IF YOU KNEW THE ANSWER, WHAT WOULD IT BE? I
know, I know. This seems like a silly question at first. But it is one
I use often with coaching clients, and more often than not, they
discover the answer they needed. When you are in the midst of a
problem, it can be easy to be so close to it that you can’t see the
obvious. By taking a bird’s eye view of your situation, you shift your
perspective and see the obvious answer. A variation on this question
would be to think of someone you respect or admire and ask, “What would
that person do in this situation?” 2. WHAT ARE YOU NOT SAYING? Too
often, we beat around the bush when it comes to the challenges and
frustrations of life. The key to finding the right solution is telling
the truth. It is often the details you leave out or avoid that contain
the core of what you need to address. Identify the words that you’ve
left unsaid and Start with the stuff you are avoiding and you’ll be
free to get the answers that will make the most meaningful impact for
you over time. 3. WHAT DOES YOUR INTUITION TELL YOU? You
are equipped with an inner knowing that sometimes defies
rationalization or logic. Listen to it! As you grow spiritually, you
become more comfortable following your intuition. Allow peace to guide
the decisions you make. If you feel a sense of peace about something,
it is probably the right answer. God often speaks in a still, small
voice. Get quiet and listen. Pray and pay attention to those nudges in
your spirit that guide you in a particular direction. 4. WHAT ARE YOU WILLING TO CHANGE TO KEEP THIS PROBLEM FROM REPEATING ITSELF? Have
you ever found yourself dealing with a similar issue over and over
again? Perhaps it is in your finances, relationships, health or at
work. Take the time to notice what frustrations, challenges or issues
are repetitive and create a solution that will eliminate them from your
life. It may require a major change or transition, but that may be just
what you need right now. Muster up the courage to stop tolerating less
than you deserve and create a life that supports you in living
purposefully and joyfully. My challenge to you this week: Be
willing to honestly answer the simple, but powerful questions that will
get you unstuck and empower you to move forward in a key area of your
life. Journaling assignment: What question are you
afraid to ask yourself? What questions do you need to ask yourself at
this stage of your life? What are your answers to those questions?
Until next time ... Warm wishes,
