Your Five Minute Personal Coach Review - June 2012

Valorie Burton's book, Your 5-Minute Personal Coach: Ask the Right Questions, Get the Right Answers, is definitely a must-read. Following the format of asking questions, this book forces you to examine various areas in your life by posing questions. Using biblical scripture as a guide, Burton allows you to examine your own thoughts and beliefs, while suggesting feasible solutions and recommendations to improve. When reading this book, you should make sure you have a pen and a notepad. You will definitely need it. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I tend not to re-read books for a second time, but this book is definitely a one I plan on reading again.

Where Will You Go From Here? Review from Twitter
June 2012

As a book reviewer, I pride myself on providing timely information, but quite honestly, this was a difficult task with this book. Valorie Burton does an excellent job providing a template for getting and keeping your life on track after life throws you a curve ball. When I received the copy of "Where Will You Go From Here", my schedule did not permit me to read it immediately, but I have been able to process the book during the most difficult season of my personal life.

This book is filled with compassion and transparency from someone who's been there and understands. Ms. Burton captures the essence of an author who speaks to her readers with a literary voice that is warm, yet firm and guiding. It is a book, study guide and testimonial, all-in-one. Filled with tools that are easy to follow, readers can expect to find strategies and principles that are more than helpful, regardless of the situation that presents itself in your life. I'm not easily impressed; however, this book tops my list for personal growth recommendations.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group. A positive review is not required
and the opinions expressed are my own.

Dear Valorie, your book "How Did I Get So Busy?" helped me to make some significant changes in my life. I have purchased the book for others.

I am now slowly getting through "What's Really Holding You Back." It took me two weeks to write the vision for the next stage of my life. After not looking at it for several more weeks I pulled it out today. I received a phone call offering me a VERY financially rewarding position. The problem, it didn't fit into the vision for my life.

I have to tell you that calling him back with a "no thank you" was one of the hardest things I've had to do. I literally feel sick to my stomach. I know it will pass and I will be happier in the long run. I just wanted to tell you "thank you" for helping me to not only choose the hard things, but also understand why I was doing it.

Keep writing. I am back on task to finish the book and I have "Why Not You" waiting on the shelf.

Valorie, at the Injoy women's conference in Nashville about 6 years ago you were about the speak to all of us assembled at the end of the weekend--you paused and said" there is a woman out there who needs to hear this--you are feeling like you are not qualified because you do not have your education, well God wants you to know today that He doesn't call the equipped--He equips the called". Well, I was that "someone" in the audience that day and I took the word He spoke through you to me to heart. Today, I am a senior in college and have walked
through many doors that I felt were long closed to me. He has and continues to equip me and I am forever grateful for your sensitivity to His spirit on that day.

Valorie, my sister then gave me your book "Why Not You? 28 Days to Authentic Confidence" for Christmas one year. A life changer! The definition of authentic confidence has stuck with me, "Authentic confidence is self-confidence built on a foundation of faith." It's a clear understanding that your abilities, when teamed with God's power and will, are unstoppable." Excellent word! Thank you so much.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE ALL of your books!!! I am collecting them. I have also passed them on to others who have also been blessed! I read a lot of books, but yours are my ALL time favorites. I have learned a whole lot that I am implementing in my EVERYday life!!!! You are my #1 life coach. You rock.

– Tracy Ricks

I had the pleasure of hearing you speak at our women's day conference in 2011 and from that you coached me through the 90-second challenge of "being still"! I also have three of your books in my "growing wiser" toolkit. I was challenged with understanding "How did I get so busy?" and your real time coaching and 28 day plan allowed me to understand the difference between being productive/fruitful vs. busy non-productive activities. I'm sooo free of being busy for the sake of it. I have truly committed to purpose-filled activities, rest and relaxation, good health and exercise and last but not least... fun-filled activities that before I was TOO BUSY to get to!! Thanks, Valorie .. You enhanced me and now I am living the best life I can live!!!

I was seeking information on time management, but still tied in with Christianity and ran across your book "How Did I Get So Busy?" at the public library. I enjoyed it so much I had to purchase it (so that I could write in it) and it is still one of my favorites. I learned how much time I was wasting on meaningless activities and taking away from the activities I really want to participate in. With my new insight, I started getting back into goal setting and actually working towards achieving those goals that I didn't think I had time to work on. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! ;)

Hi Valorie! I love your weekly newsletter because it always gives me something to journal about which helps me move closer to my life's purpose. I have shared them with co-workers and have also participated in your teleclasses. You reinforce positivity and spirituality and I love that about you. Look forward to seeing you in person and getting my copy of Successful Women Think Differently signed! Continue doing your life's work :-)

After hearing you at Grace Covenant, I shared your message, your newsletter, and books with colleagues! I am so glad I came with my best friend to see you! Your message was encouraging, uplifting, real!! When you asked us to share a positive thing that happened to us during the week, I shared that I had a job interview. During your message, I received a phone call and was offered the job!! It is my passion and my purpose! Thank you for knowledge-sharing, for being so authentic, sincere, and open. You are a gift and I am grateful that you share this with ALL women!!!

- Sharmaine Grove

Yes, I have read your books for years, but most recently I listened to a conference call about coaching and you took my question about what I felt was my gifting. This is Pat from Chicago. The call helped me figure out what my purpose is. I am now about my purpose. I am waiting for the next 3 day coaching intensive to learn more about coaching! Thanks again.

– Patricia Morrison

After reading "Where Will You Go From Here" I found the courage to exit corporate America and pursue my dream of launching my own coaching and consulting business. I connected my purpose to fulfillment and now I am helping others do the same in their lives. It's been a great journey and I am so excited about the opportunity to join God where He is working. I am looking forward to being in DC this weekend for the coach training intensive! Thanks for being a blessing and an example to so many!

I have heard you in both books and CDs as well as on TV. Each time you make me wanna be a better woman, wife and mom. You also let me know that I can be those things because of the gifts God gave me at birth. You are such an inspiration and I especially enjoy that you often speak about God and your faith. I pray my words bless you as your words have blessed me.

– Cheranissa Roach

Hi Valorie, I'm so grateful for you and your purpose here on Earth. I had never even heard of you until July 23rd of this year and it is simply God who brought your books to me in a grocery store. I realized that when I prayed that God would send people in my path who loved him and would help me to the person He created me to be, that didn't necessarily mean in the physical. He knows my hunger right now and it has been recently to find me and understand me through books. This year alone I have spent hundreds on books at Barnes & Nobles but guided my footsteps to a grocery store where I bought your book! I am currently reading Successful Women Think Differently and Valorie words can't express my gratitude and appreciation for this book. This book is after the bible for my foundation and becoming the woman I'm meant to be. Thank you and you will hear from me again.
